The Prairie Creek Reading Lab is a Title One funded classroom that is designed to serve students who are struggling in reading fluency and reading comprehension. Kindergarten through 5th grade students come to the lab during MTSS (Multi-Tiered System of Support) time. All students go to a reading group during the MTSS time that meets their specific reading needs. While in the reading lab students work in small groups with myself or one of my trained aides, Pam Buster or Erica Young. We see kindergarteners for 30 minutes a day and 1st through 3rd for 1 hour a day. Fourth and fifth graders come on an as needed basis and during MTSS time.
I also have a therapy dog, Lily, who comes to school with me on most days. Students can read to her, sit with her, and 4th and 5th graders can sign-up to take her out to recess. She is a very calm dog who loves to interact with Prairie Creek students.
If ever you have any questions, please feel free to email me or call me! I would love to chat with you about your student or reading anytime.
