This art studio and learning space includes various art media in which students can create meaningful projects. At the beginning of the year students will engage in “skill builder” activities as they begin exploring the various art materials and tools. As the year progresses, the drawing, painting, and collage centers will open to students and will remain open as students show art citizenship by using the materials responsibly and cleaning up after themselves. Other art centers will open throughout the year (some for a short amount of time and appropriately age-based) which will include weaving, sewing and soft sculpture, cardboard construction, paper sculpture, and wire sculpture. Demonstrations and instruction will be given before students begin exploring and creating as safety is an utmost priority.
Throughout the creative process, students will be exposed to and learn about various artists and art movements via “Observation Station” discussions and activities.
